A practical guide to finding, recording and organising your belongings with Boxfolio.
Your inventory follows your home
Boxfolio organises records as Location → Storage place → Item. For example: Kitchen → Cutlery drawer → Serving spoon. Use a location for a room or area, a storage place for a cupboard, drawer, box or shelf, and an item for the thing inside it.
Start with a location
Create the rooms or areas you use most. You can build the rest of your inventory gradually; you do not need to catalogue the whole house in one sitting.
Add storage places
Add each cupboard, drawer, box or shelf to its location. Give it a name you will recognise when you are looking for something.
Record an item
Add the item to its storage place. Include a useful name and any details, photographs, receipts or documents you want to keep with the record.
Find things
Search the inventory by name and open a result to see its details and storage path. If an item changes places, update its record so the app reflects where it is now.
Move belongings
Use the app’s move controls when you relocate an item or storage place. Check the destination before confirming the move.
Use labels
QR labels connect your physical storage with Boxfolio. Print or share the labels from the app and attach them where they are easy to scan. Supported barcode options are also available.
People and attachments
Use People records where they help you organise your belongings. Photos and attachments keep useful information with the relevant record.
Back up your inventory
Create backups from the app and keep a copy somewhere safe. CSV export provides a readable list of records. Check you are selecting the correct backup before restoring it.
Subscription and read-only access
The UK annual subscription is £24.99. An active subscription allows adding, editing and organising records. After expiry, your inventory is view-only. Adding, editing, deleting, exporting and creating backups require an active subscription. Use Restore Purchases if you already have a subscription through the same Apple account.
Manage or cancel your subscription
Open your iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions and choose Boxfolio. Apple manages subscription payments and cancellation.
